Dogecoin: A Meme-Inspired Cryptocurrency is Reaching its Peek
What started out as a tweet back in 2013 is now a digital cryptocurrency phenomenon. Dogecoin is the fifth largest cryptocurrency in the world, created by developers Jackson Palmer and Billy Markus. It has managed to outperform almost all other cryptocurrencies last year, and is now valued at $70 billion.
Now consider the world’s most valuable meme. One of the greatest advocates of Dogecoin is Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and a businessman and entrepreneur. The first mention of Dogecoin in relation to Musk was when on April 2, 2019 he replied to a poll by Dogecoin for its next CEO, “Dogecoin might be my fav cryptocurrency. It’s pretty cool.” Musk won with 49% of all votes.
His next tweet would come on June 17, 2020, where he would tweet,“It’s inevitable”
